Children's Self-Esteem

Children's Self-Esteem

Parents lay the foundation for self-esteem.

Self-esteem is formed in childhood and here’s how parents can influence the formation of their children’s self-esteem:

  1. Support and Love:
Parents who express love and support help children develop a positive attitude towards themselves. Positive feedback strengthens self-esteem.

  2. Rewarding effort:
Encouraging children's efforts and achievements helps build confidence in their own abilities.

  3. Respect for Feelings:
Parents who respect and acknowledge their children's feelings help them develop emotional  and healthy self-esteem.

  4. Help to develop skills:
Giving children opportunities to develop skills and interests helps them feel competent.

  5. Behavior Pattern:
Children often learn by observing their parents' behavior. Parents' positive and healthy attitudes towards themselves can be passed on to their children.

However, parents can also negatively influence children's self-esteem through criticism, lack of support, or setting unrealistic expectations.

It is therefore important that parents are aware of their influences and strive to create a supportive and positive environment for their children.

Children are our mirrors!
